Our Mission
“We, at the Washington Soil & Water Conservation District, are committed to the conservation of our natural resources by providing a pathway of education and assistance to the stakeholders of Washington County.”
Our beginning
As a result of the Dust Bowl in the 1930’s, legislation was passed that eventually resulted in the creation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Ohio.
The agency’s goal is to work with landowners to prevent erosion that may result in the sedimentation of local watersheds.
The Washington Soil and Water Conservation District works with landowners and the federal government to inventory resources, educate, and develop services that are provided free or at low costs to the public.

Board meetings are the second Wednesday of the month with February, March, November and December at 7PM, April thru September at 8PM & January and October meetings TBA.
2024 Annual Financial Statement
The annual financial statement of the Washington Soil & Water Conservation District has been completed and on file at the SWCD office located at 21330 SR 676, Marietta. Office hours are M-F 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
